Conservation Properties
York County, PA
Throughout the world scientists have recognized the decline of native bee populations which are paramountly important to pollination of crops for food, fiber and native habitat. Envirens has initiated a keystone project in bee habitat plantings in combination with the traditional conservation reserve enhancement plantings. Demonstration gardens around residential buildings and larger scale field plantings have been initiated on a farm design as sustainable agro-ecology.
Conservation Properties is an 80-acre farm that has been updated to produce native plants for wholesale. The grounds have been planted with forested buffers and native grasslands for conservation practices as well as conservation landscaping. Themed gardens include butterfly and pollinator gardens and gardens for seed and cutting propagation at the nursery. Earth shelter housing is being constructed to accommodate overnight guests for training courses and workers at the nursery.
