AES Warrior Run Power Plant Wetland Determination & Mitigation
Allegheny County, MD
Applied Energy Services had proposed a state-of-the-art coal fired co-generation facility in Cumberland, MD for over five years. Envirens was retained to provide a second professional opinion in clarifying a wetland boundary delineation. Envirens mediated the regulatory decision by collecting independent data, and communicating with Maryland DNR and another wetland consultant. By mediation of a decision favorable to AES, the project received necessary wetland permits and could proceed. Envirens was then also contracted to provide and supervise construction of 4.6 acres of forested and emergent wetlands, and monitored wetland performance for the next five years. The project included construction of a railroad spur transecting the middle of the wetland.
Pictures of the site will be available soon.
