Marsh Creek Stream Assessment
Adams County, PA
Marsh Creek provides drinking water to the town of Gettysburg, PA, and its surrounding communities. Envirens, with it’s affiliate Ecosystems Recovery Institute, catalyzed a watershed partnership with the Adams County Conservation District to conduct a stream stability assessment throughout the watershed, develop an inventory of restoration sites and prioritize restoration implementation in a multi-year growing greener program. Through a series of workshops we trained and coached citizen stream teams in conducting the assessment of existing stream conditions. A series of projects were then implemented to demonstrate the menu of techniques available for stream restoration. This project was a facilitation of community stewardship and includes the following elements:
- Partnership Facilitation
- Educational Workshops
- Stream Channel Classification using the Rosgen Classification Methodology
- Stream Assessment using Fluvial Geomorphic Principles and Rosgen Methodologies
