Old Field Meadows at HZ Properties
Baltimore County, MD
Envirens worked for four years to restore a 23 acre abandoned old field/ meadow dominated by invasive species. Mechanical removal, herbicides and controlled burned fire was used to remove Japanese Honeysuckle, Multiflora Rose, Autumn Olive, Canada Thistle, Asiatic Bush Honeysuckle, and Oriental Knapweed. Over-seeding of native warm season grasses was accomplished by drilling. Meadow integrity, diversity and invasive species control continues to be managed with a specific mowing schedule, monitoring program and spot treatment implementation.
Additionally, 25 acres of un-even aged mixed oak and maple-poplar forest is also being managed after completion of a formal forest stand delineation, forest conservation plan and forest harvest management plan.
