Backbone Mountain Rare Species Survey
Garrett County, MD
Envirens provided a rare plant survey, wetland delineation and expert testimony for a proposed wind energy project on Marylands highest elevation, Backbone Mountain, in Garrett County. Extant populations of the rare Carex aestivalis, Dryopters campyloptera and Clintonia borealis were mapped and incorporated into an avoidance strategy for micro-siting of wind turbine locations and access road alignment.
